UPMC
Horizon earns Joint Commission Gold Seal of Approval
Farrell
and Greenville, PA — UPMC Horizon has earned The
Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval following a recent
unannounced five-day survey at its Greenville and Shenango Valley
campuses, the Womancare Center in Hermitage and UPMC Horizon’s
network of outpatient centers across Mercer County.
Founded in 1951,
The Joint Commission is dedicated to continuously improving the
safety and quality of the nation’s health care through voluntary
accreditation. Hospitals that demonstrate compliance with The Joint
Commission’s national standards are awarded the Gold Seal
of Approval.
“The survey
team recognized that the care we provide at UPMC Horizon is different
from other community hospitals,” says Joel Yuhas, UPMC Horizon
president. “Through our relationship with UPMC, we are defining
how health care should be delivered. Proudly, we offer the community
a different kind of health care experience by bringing the advanced,
sophisticated care of UPMC to the doorsteps of our local residents.”
Joint Commission
surveyors noted numerous “best practices” during UPMC
Horizon’s onsite survey, a few of which are eligible to apply
for The Joint Commission’s prestigious Codman Award recognizing
excellence in hospital quality performance.
