Our professional staff of therapists provides more than 35 years of combined therapy expertise. UPMC Horizon offers inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation services at both campuses. Physical Therapy Physical therapy specializes in: orthopaedic care sports medicine cerebrovascular accident amputation pediatrics neurologic needs wound care geriatric care aquatic therapy (Park Medical Building only) incontinence therapy Occupational Therapy Occupational therapy specializes in: cognitive and perceptual retraining joint splinting hand therapy training related to accomplishing activities of daily living work simulation manual dexterity and coordination adaptive equipment family and patient education Speech Therapy Speech therapy specializes in: delayed speech or language development fluency disorders voice problems diagnostic assessment standardized testing diagnostic play therapy stroke closed head injury laryngectomy voice disorder early-stage degenerative neurologic illness swallowing difficulty Pain Management The Outpatient Pain Mangement Program develops individualized programs to modify behavior through treatment of the physiologic, psychologic, and social aspects of pain. The following are used in teaching clients to manage and control pain: comprehensive evaluation individual cognitive behavioral therapy group therapy biofeedback therapeutic exercise exercises to help the patient accomplish the activities of daily living vocational counseling psychological testing anesthesiology consultation nutrition counseling Occupational Rehabilitation This service provides rehabilitation at the onset of injury or illness. Services progress from passive to active treatment, and physicians may refer at any time during the client's recovery phase. The focus is functional restoration and return to work through: improving neuromusculoskeletal function improving cardiopulmonary function patient education symptoms relief Additional services, which are available if needed, are: comprehensive evaluation on-site job analysis body mechanics training back injury prevention
