Services
The Wellness Center offers a program aimed at assessing
your health today and then furnishing you with skilled direction,
incentives, and a means for attaining better health for the rest
of your life. You can choose to begin your journey into wellness
with a mini-assessment, which checks blood pressure, resting pulse,
and cardiovascular endurance. In
addition, you may choose to have your body composition, flexibility,
muscle strength, and muscle endurance measured. These measures
are all indicators of overall fitness.
In a private
session, a trained counselor will review your results and assist
you in setting priorities for changing your lifestyle. You will
also be given an individualized exercise prescription and learn
how to use exercise equipment properly. To ensure that you will
get the most from your workout, you will receive individual supervision
of your initial workout session.
The Wellness
Center is open six days a week for supervised exercise activities.
Assessment and educational activities are available on a prescheduled
basis. As a member you can use a variety of cardiovascular equipment,
state-of-the-art "selectorized" strength training equipment,
and free weights.
You may also
take advantage of any of the ongoing programs and services available
to members. These health enhancement activities offer you expert
instruction along with the support and companionship of others
who are interested in achieving the same lifestyle goals.

you with skilled direction, incentives, and a means for attaining
better health for the rest of your life.

Nutrition
Counseling
Nutrition consultation is provided by a registered dietitian-nutritionist
if you:
- need to
lose weight
- need to
modify your diet due to a health condition
- would like
to improve your nutritional practices
The individualized
diet consultation for weight control is a single session with
the option of a follow-up in a series of sessions. At the initial
consultation, the dietitian will:
- assess
your needs
- set up
a daily meal plan compatible with your foods and lifestyle
- go over
lists of food to use in daily meal planning
At the follow-up
sessions, the dietitian will weigh you, review your food records,
and answer any questions.
If you need
to modify your diet because of a health condition such as diabetes
or heart disease, the adjustment can be easier if you receive
help from a registered dietitian-nutritionist. He or she can assist
you in learning how to plan, shop, and prepare food in a new way.
If you
want to have your nutrition practices professionally evaluated,
a registered dietitian-nutritionist will do so and recommend improvements.
If you are
referred by a physician, a report will be sent to the referring
physician concerning progress. If you participate in a program
on your own initiative, a report will be sent to your physician
upon your request.
Nutrition
counseling sessions are subject to a charge. Costs may be covered
by insurers for diabetic counseling if referred by a physician.
